A new system which allows the detection of cocaine at very low concentration levels has been developed
Researchers from the Universitat Politècnica de València, CIC biomaGUNE and CIBER Bioengineering Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN) under the Carlos III Health Institute, have devised a new method to detect cocaine and Mycoplasma in very low concentration levels. An alternative design for its use in laboratories which is potentially more competitive than other analysis methods currently used.

Research on carbon nanotube sponges advances towards spinal reconnection
A carbon nanotube sponge is biocompatible with cerebral cortex tissue and, furthermore, capable of connecting two spinal segments, according to the findings of research conducted by groups led by Professor Maurizio Prato in CIC biomaGUNE and in the University of Trieste, Professor Laura Ballerini and Professor Maurizio De Crescenzi.

CIC biomaGUNE, is leading two "Marie Curie" projects, which are European training and professional development projects for researchers in highly scientific fields such as glycoscience, which studies carbohydrates, and the development of hybrid materials for controlled drug release.
