A PhD position to work on the project "CIBERbioMATeriales Inteligentes, con Interacción y Repuesta al entorno biológico, para regeneración tisular".

The research, which will be carried out between the Hybrid Biofunctional Laboratory (CIC biomaGUNE) under the supervision of Dr. Dorleta Jimenez de Aberasturi, and the Biomolecular Nanotechnology Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Aitziber López Cortajarena. The PhD revolves around the design of cyberbiophysical materials, i.e., smart biomaterials that interact with and respond to the biological environment, based on the design of proteins and magnetic and plasmonic nanoparticles. Specifically, the aim is to develop biocompatible materials that promote the maturation and differentiation of cardiac tissue, providing controlled responses to the specific needs of the tissue.

Required Education Level:

A Master degree in a relevant area of Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science,  Biotechnology, Biology/Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related areas is required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Experience in the fields of nanoparticle synthesis, materials synthesis, protein chemistry and design, in vitro models and/or cell culture is highly desirable.

Good interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.

The successful candidate will be hired by CIC biomaGUNE with a predoctoral full-time contract of 12 months renewable annually up to 48 months
