We are looking for candidates who want to pursue a PhD jointly between CIC biomaGUNE and POLYMAT and who are willing to apply for Basque Government or EHU scholarships.
Scholarship requirements:
-Be registered as a resident in a municipality of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAPV) at the time of application and at least since January 1, 2026.
- a) An official Spanish Bachelor’s degree and a University Master’s degree, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been completed in total across both programs (of which at least 60 ECTS credits must be at master’s level). Completion of the University Master’s degree is required.
b) An official Spanish university degree (Licenciatura, Architecture, Engineering, Technical Architecture, Technical Engineering, or Diplomatura), or a degree from another country within the European Higher Education Area that qualifies for access to a Master’s program in accordance with Royal Decree 889/2022 of October 18. This decree establishes the conditions and procedures for recognition, equivalence, and validation of foreign higher education qualifications, as well as the process for determining their correspondence to the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits across official university studies, of which at least 60 must be at Master’s level. Completion of the University Master’s degree is required.
A PhD position to work on the project PRIM (Pulmonary Respiratory Infection Models). The research, which will be carried out between the Hybrid Biofunctional Materials Laboratory (HbFM Lab) (CIC biomaGUNE) under the supervision of Dr. Dorleta Jimenez de Aberasturi, and the FunPolySens group (POLYMAT) under the supervision of Dr. Clara Garcia Astrain. The PhD revolves around the design of sensing biomaterials and preclinical in vitro models to model infection in pulmonary models.
