The project “Chiral Metal Nanorods for Enantioselective (Amino)catalysis (CHIMERA)”, led by CIC biomaGUNE researchers Luis Liz-Marzán and Maurizio Prato, has been selected by the Fundamentos Program of the BBVA Foundation. This program aims to support exploratory, fundamental, and interdisciplinary research addressing key questions in basic science.
CHIMERA focuses on the development of nanoparticles with chiral geometry for applications in enantioselective catalysis. Using metals such as gold, palladium, and platinum, the team will investigate how to achieve the required geometry and catalytic activity to synthesize chiral organic molecules with high purity, particularly those of pharmaceutical interest.
