On April 28, we had the pleasure of hosting the scientific meeting “Nanomedicine Symposium: From the Laboratory to the Clinic”, organized by CIC biomaGUNE in collaboration with the Exobiopharma Chair of Nanomedicine at the University of Zaragoza. The symposium brought together researchers from across the field of nanomedicine, spanning fundamental research to clinical translation, and featured talks by leading experts.
The day opened with welcome remarks by Jose Maria Mato, General Director of CIC biomaGUNE, and Jesús Santamaría, Director of the Exobiopharma Chair of Nanomedicine at the University of Zaragoza.
From CIC biomaGUNE, Aitziber Cortajarena presented her work on protein-based composites for sensing and theranostics; Maurizio Prato provided an overview of his group’s research on carbon nanotubes and spinal cord injury; and Paula Vázquez Aristizabal showcased her research on 3D tumor models.
Invited speakers also contributed outstanding presentations: María Jesús Vicent (Príncipe Felipe Research Center) discussed polypeptide-based therapies; Mariana Medina (CIC nanoGUNE) presented her work on micro- and nanodevices targeting infertility and cancer; and Ibane Abasolo (CSIC, Barcelona) explored animal models for disease and nanotherapeutic delivery.
The symposium concluded with an engaging panel discussion on the clinical translation of nanomedicine.
