Dr. Natalia Baranova obtained her PhD from the University of the Basque Country under the supervision of Prof. Ralf Richter. Afterwards, she joined the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ranked as one of the world's leading research institutes) to work in the group of Prof. Martin Loose.

Throughout her career, she has conducted research solely supported by ERC grants awarded to the groups where she received her training. Her postdoctoral project had been recognized by two highly competitive long-term EMBO and HFSP fellowships. As a senior postdoc, she worked in the group of Prof. Christoph Rademacher at the University of Vienna, where she received a Marie Jahoda Professorship Transition grant to initiate her independent research career.

The establishment of her research group at CIC biomaGUNE has been supported by Ramon y Cajal and Ikerbasque Fellow grants. Dr. Baranova's publications have been published in high-impact journals, and since founding her independent group, she has secured both national and EU funding. Her research focuses on reverse engineering of molecular assemblies to understand how they function and exploring their design for societal needs.
